Iron Maiden - Run To The Hills (Re-release)
Upon first glance, the re-release of the Steve Harris penned The Number Of The Beast classic Run To The Hills would indicate that Iron Maiden - arguably the World’s finest metal band - are out to line their fatly stitched pockets with pre-used silk once again. Pleasingly, unlike the additional version of the track released from 85’s vintage Live After Death album and 1990’s The First Ten Years re-release, the fourth release of one of Maiden’s most popular singles (no. 7 in ‘82, 3rd in ‘90) is for the purpose of charity. To be more specific, original sticksman Clive Burr has MS, and all proceeds will be donated to his MS trust fund. Rock-operatic vocals, galloping guitars, battle-esque drums / percussion, instantaneously catchy opening rhythms and the soaring chorus all contribute to making Run To The Hills the true fan favourite it is. While the live version - more atmospheric and aptly demonstrating the Air Raid Siren (frontman Bruce Dickinson) can still hit all those screaming notes - promises much for Maiden’s forthcoming live opus, the Kevin Shirley produced Rock In Rio. We can’t wait... Verdict - @@@@@ Andy Law |
