ZENITH CAFE ZENCAFCDA104[53.41]

Apparently there is no "Zenith Cafe" in the UK, it’s just a record label name whose concept is they cook lunch for all the staff, musicians and visitors - hence Zenith Cafe.

You will also find a link to Mr. Perrino’s web-site where you will find more information about him. Born in Sanremo, he began as a percussionist, then became involved with a number of experimental pop music groups. He has done electronic music, but this disk is surely recorded using analogue ("real") instruments; any contribution from electronic instruments is subtle and unobtrusive and there is no objectionable "brightening" or other sound processing. This results in smooth, realistic sound. His recent albums have included "Solare," "Far East," and "The Inner Garden."

In this album, Perrino pursues "a musical simplicity that attempts to express his musical vision of today." With many of the titles containing the word "silence" you are not surprised that the music is quiet New Age style background music. This production shows a great deal of skill in the sound arrangements and in the technical aspects of recording. As to the tunes, there aren’t any, and the tonal shapes are so familiar you can hum along the first time you hear the disk. The instrumental textures are at times intriguing. The sound is pleasing and very harmonious, suitable for meditation, perhaps guided by the titles supplied, or for sonic wallpaper at social gatherings. This disk will decode nicely in your Surround Sound processor.
